on my 1996 cavalier 2.2L is my clutch a cable or a hydrolic clutch??????? cuz if its cable i need to tighten it??????

I don't think they use mechanical clutchs on vehicles anymore

your clutch is hydrolic. and yes they do use cables still. nissan sentra still uses them

speaking a bout this..

i have a 89 cav z24 and my clutch is engaged when its touching the floor so has soon has i let go the clutch 1/8 of the way is fully engaged some way to make it engage further up?

its a calbe clutch..

No, J cars have hydraulic clutches. I highly doubt someone went to the trouble of converting it to cable.

I'd check your fluid level in the hydraulic system. The cap for it is next to the brake booster...check in the corner between the driver's strut tower and the brake booster.
